Sons of Anarchy Season 3 Blu-Ray/DVD Review

Maybe one of the best examples of a tv series that cheers on the anti-heroes, Sons of Anarchy is a show where the heroes are gun running murderers who'll not hesitate to get their hands dirty in any illegal vice from prostitution to drugs to make the money they need to make ends meet.

This season starts as the members in the club imprisoned at the end of Season 3 are getting out of jail. There are so many twists and spins in Season Three of Sons of Anarchy that seeing it a second time is a must to prepare for the new season to come. Following the big finale of Season 2, Season 3 begins at full speed, with a wanted Gemma (Katey Sagal) fleeing in the authorities after being build for murder by the corrupt ATF agent June Stahl (Ally Walker).  With Tig (Kim Coates) watching out for Gemma, Clay (Ron Pearlman) and Jax (Charlie Hunnam) are free to find the Irish Army member (Jamie McShane) who has stolen Abel, Jax’s son.  Unaware that her grandson is finished, Gemma hids out at her estranged father’s (Hal Holbrook) home and prepares to help transfer him in a nursing home.  Meanwhile the MC get a guide that Abel have been taken to Vancouver so they prepare to go get him back.  The search for Abel proceeds and finally sees SAMCRO boarding a freight airplane to Belfast while they locate the boy and vow revenge on all who have kept Abel from his family.

On this Blu Ray release even more secrets are exposed through extended episodes also commentary tracks for 3 of the episodes. While the total content on the three extra scenes doesn’t add up to much it includes a bit of back-story and washes up a few loose ends. Though I wouldn’t go and buy season 3 simply using the extended content it does add to the series’ rewatchability.

The 1080p High-definition video transfer for Sons of Anarchy Season 3 comes with a striking visual display with some excellent detail and a sharp image.  Colors are natural tones, using the Irish countryside providing most of the strongest instances of color and depth.  Black levels are core pack, with some crush in the evening scenes.  Film provides show a real, streetwise feel to it that sets the mood for the Sons’ adventures.

At the end of Sons of Anarchy Season 3 of the greatest rated series on the FX cable station, the SAMCRO boys are headed to prison. The “Sopranos on Harleys” spectacular series completed it’s 3rd season last November and is set for its 4th season which will premiere on September 6.
